General Young Women's Meeting

This year Meilin and Mom got to go to the General Young Women's meeting in SL.  It was Meilin's first time going.  Our ward was singing in the Choir so our ward was given extra tickets.  Although Meilin isn't quit old enough (she won't be 12 until July)  thy YW leader felt she should go because she will be attending Girls camp this summer and it would give her a good chance to be part of the YW program.  It was a great evening.  We went up with two of Meilin's friends.  We visited the new City Creek Shopping Center before attending the Conference.  

 After the conference we stopped to take a few more pictures of the Katie Cluff and Elora Judd.  Elora Judd is not a member of the church be we were able to bring her along.  After the conference Elora slept at our house and then was able to attend church with us the next day.  At the conference Sister Dibb talked about the FTSOY pamplet and how she had underlined the words "For...You".  Meilin decided to give her copy to Elora so that she could have her very own copy since she didn't already have one.  It was also fast Sunday and Meilin didn't eat.  When we explained we wouldn't be eating (we told she she could eat) Meilin was able to answer more questions that  Elora asked about why she was fasting.  She was a great little missionary!

Rex is such a happy baby.  This afternoon when Alyse came to pick him up he and Meilin started having fun.....the results...Giggles galore!

Aunt Meim

We got to tend Rex last night while his mommy and daddy went Christmas shopping.  Meilin was thrilled to be able to help out.  She fed him and while she was burping him he fell asleep.  She held him for over a half an hour that way, just cuddling and kissing the top of his head.  You can tell Rex was totally comfortable with his Aunt Meim.

Strange company

Saturday night I sit alone in my house when I heard a knock at my door. I went to see who it was and was met by these two strange characters. Believe or not they did say
"Trick-or-Treat". Meilin and her friend Benj(amin) were having fun dressing up and they came to see if I would recognize them. Fun kids!

Labor Day

Our Labor day started out with our annual family bike ride up the Provo River trail. It was slightly overcast so it was excellent weather for a ride. Spencer was able to join us for the first hour before he had to turn back to head back to work. We rode from Utah Lake to the Shopco on the diagnal for a total of 12 miles.

Meilin and Mom on the bridge where we turned around. We then headed to Maceys for Icecream cones! Yum! Yum.

Shrotly after this Mitchell crashed into a young father with his child. Both were ok, but it was Mitchell's second crash of the day, poor guy!
After lunch at Burger King it was off to the Spanish Fork Airport to go flying with Jourdan! What fun! This was our first chance to see him in action and fly with Him.



Mitchell thought it was "Totally AWSOME!!!" Meilin giggled the whole flight and Dad got to fly to Provo airport and do a touch and go with Jourdan. Upon returning the weather started to get windy so Mom's ride had to be postponed. (Darn!) It was the highlight of the day! Thanks Jourdan!

Meilin was excited to finally start 6th grade. Summer was getting a bit long and she was ready to jump back into learning. Her teacher this year is Mrs. Lunt. This year was a bit hard because most of her friends started Jr. High. She will do great! Have a fun year Meim!

We got a new camera at our house and April was playing around with some of the new features and took this cool picture of Meilin...FUN!

Meilin had her FIRST recital! Although she was very nervous she did an awsome job as you can hear! Way to go Meim!

HSM3

So April, Meilin, Jeanette and her friend Jessica all went to see HSM3 on Saturday. It was a toe-taping, bumb-bouncing good show. We all loved it. Right after the movie we had to stop off at Target to buy the soundtrack....(just like Taryn)and listen to it on the way home. Meilin's favorite stars are Gabrella and Sharpae.....surprise, surprise. Thanks Jeanette for the invite.

Meilin Gets Baptised!

Our little angel Meilin was baptized. She looked so beautiful in her white dress. She was so excited and a bit nervous for the big day. It was a great day that we celebrated with family and friends. She was baptized at the historical tabernacle in American Fork. After we came home for a family dinner that was great! Thanks to all our family for supporting Meilin in this important decision. We love you Meilin!!!!

Our very own Olympian

Meilin just finished up her first year on the summer swim team. She was totally amazing! She was a fish! Her first swim meet she got 6th and 7th place in the backstroke and freestyle. At the season final she finished 1st for her age in the Butterfly!!!! (her personal favorite stroke) She came in 2nd for the freestyle. She loved it! She got medals, a trophy and ribbons to show how well her season went. US Olympic swim team watch out here she comes!

Rons work Party

For Rons work Party this year we got to take the family to Park City and play! Sadly to say everyone was gone either to a camp or trip so Meilin was our only child for the day. We had lots of fun! We rode the Alpine slide, Mountain rollercoaster, played miniture golf and had a great lunch. We were able to ride the rides as many times as we wanted. It was great fun!

So we had it confirmed that Meilin does indeed have Dyslexia. Mom and Meilin spent over two hours with a professional dyslexia tester doing tests to find out. We are so glad that we found out as early as we did. Even though she is behind we caught it soon enough to get her caught back up quickly. Her type of dyslexia is an auditory processing disorder. She has a difficult time processing written and oral information. We have invested in a tutoring program that helps dyslexia children learn to read and we bagan teaching her at home . Surprisngly enough the schools don't know and aren't trained on how to teach kids with dyslexia. So it is up to the families to help their own kids learn. We started the program two weeks ago with Meilin and during the testing today the area where we have been tutoring her on her scores were way high! The tester said that that was a wonderful sign that what we were doing was working and that we are on the right path to finally helping her learn to read. Meilin is such a trooper! We have been so proud of how she has tried and tried and never given up even though things have been very hard for her. She is amazing! You go girl!!!!

Ok so here is our summer is a short few pictures.

For our Fall Break we took a family mini vacation for one day. First we headed to the Discovery Gateway then hopped over to the Clark Planetarium where we saw two shows. Then we went to the Lion House Pantry for a yummy lunch and a tour of the Beehive house. Then it was off to the Living Planet Aquarium to pet the sting rays. Then to finish off the day we visisted Thanksgiving Points Dinosaur Museum. It was quite a fun day!

Fall Walk

Meilin and Ron went on a walk. While they were gone they caught a rare form of Rhino Infintitus. :)

Labor Day

On Labor Day we had a family picnic with the whole family including Jeanette. It was great to have the family together again. After dinner the kids played a game of Bocce ball. Then we all played 4-square. Andrew had never played before but he soon cought on and was soon the King of the square! He does play a good round of pac-man that really gets Meilin laughing. The evening ended with chalk drawings on the front walkway, a fun remembrance of the evining. Only bad thing it rained during the night and it was gone before morning.
